Oracle Cloud Free Tier: The Best Free VPS
Oracle Cloud's Always-Free tier offers genuinely capable free virtual machines. Honest review and the catches to know.
What it is
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers an Always-Free tier that includes Arm-based compute (up to 4 cores and 24 GB RAM across instances), block storage and bandwidth -- by far the most generous free VPS offer from a major cloud.
The catches: capacity for free Arm instances can be hard to get in popular regions, and accounts can be reclaimed if left idle. But for a free always-on server it is unmatched.
What you get for free
Always-Free: Arm compute up to 4 cores / 24 GB RAM, 200 GB storage, 10 TB egress per month. No credit-card charge on the free tier.
Who it is for
Developers and self-hosters who want a real always-on server for $0.
Our take
We run real workloads on it ourselves. The most generous free cloud tier there is, with caveats we have stated honestly.
